Job summary

TIC – The Industrial Company is seeking an entry-level helper to support skilled craftspersons in a hands-on, field-based environment. You will learn to operate hand and power tools, assist with assembly, alignment, and installation of equipment, and support crane operations and testing as needed.

The role involves moving machinery, working outdoors in varying conditions, and complying with safety and project rules.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; prior field experience helpful.
• Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.
• Field experience in chosen craft discipline recommended.

Responsibilities

• Learn to use hand and power tools to measure, cut, assemble and align machinery and install items.
• Assist with inventory review and foundation preparation for grouting and machinery placement.
• Assist skilled craftsmen with torqueing, rigging, crane guidance and testing installed machinery.
• Dismantle machines using tools and move machinery with hoists, dollies, rollers and trucks.
• Assist with assembling and installing equipment, aligning machines, and attaching to foundations per project specs.

Position Summary

Assist skilled craftsperson(s) by performing supportive duties as directed and will work under immediate supervision. The level and degree of job responsibilities and requirements vary depending on months of experience and assigned job step.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties

• Learn to use hand and power tools to properly measure, cut, assemble and align machinery and install all other items
• Assist with reviewing and verifying inventory of equipment/machine components; checking accuracy of line and grade of existing foundation; prepare foundation for grouting and/or machinery placement; establishing and use centerlines and bench marks; establishing proper elevation of subsole and sole plates; set and aligning machine components; mix and place all types of grout;
• Assist skilled craftsman when they torque equipment and machinery; properly rig equipment and machinery and direct crane operators on placement of same. Test all installed machinery and equipment and make all necessary adjustments and/or repairs, if any.
• Assist with dismantling machines using hammers, wrenches, crowbars and other hand tools; moving machinery and equipment using hoist, dollies, rollers and trucks;
• Assist with the assembly and installation of equipment; aligning machines and equipment using hoists, jacks, hand tools, squares, micrometers and plumb bobs; assembling machines and attaching them to foundations or other structures according to project specifications.

Qualifications

• May require a high school diploma or its equivalent with previous years of experience in the field or in a related area.
• Must possess knowledge skills and abilities for position
• Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions and communicate effectively with management/supervision
• Field experience in chosen craft discipline
• Knowledge of the safe and efficient use of hand tools, power tools and layout tools.

• Must have all required tools
• Expected to climb and work at heights and in confined spaces (may exceed 200 ft)
• Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
• Able to work overtime, nights, and weekends as required by the workload
• Observe and comply with all safety and project rules. Performs other duties as required.
