Job summary

Oregon Steel Mills LLC is seeking an experienced Journeyman Millwright to repair, troubleshoot, install and move machinery. You will read blueprints and schematics, dismantle and reassemble equipment, and align machines using precision tools.

Qualifications

  • Journeyman Millwright or equivalent experience required.
  • Ability to read blueprints and schematic drawings.
  • Proficient in setting up, tearing down, and rebuilding machinery.
  • Experience operating cranes and forklifts.
  • Strong problem solving and math skills, including geometry/trigonometry.

Responsibilities

  • Repair, troubleshoot, install and move machinery and equipment.
  • Read repair documents, manuals, blueprints and schematics to determine procedures.
  • Dismantle, align and assemble machines using precision tools.
  • Construct foundations and fasten equipment to structures.
  • Weld, rivet, or bolt components to foundations.
  • Operate cranes and forklifts; perform maintenance on mobile equipment.

The hourly wage for this position will depend on experience and includes monthly incentive bonus opportunities.RESPONSIBILITIES:Repair, troubleshoot, install and move machinery and equipment using hoists, dollies, rollers and lift trucks, hand tools, and power tools.Reads repair documents, manuals, blueprints and schematic drawings to determine work procedures.Dismantles machines, using manual, hydraulic, pneumatic, and precision tools of the trade.Assembles and installs equipment, such as shafting, bearings, conveyors, and tram rails, using hand and power tools.Constructs foundation for machines, using hand tools and building materials such as wood, cement, and steel.Aligns machines and equipment using hoists, jacks, hand tools, squares, rules, micrometers, and plumb bobs and other precision tools.Assembles machines, and bolts, welds, rivets, or otherwise fastens them to foundation or other structure, using hand and power tools.Mechanically repair cranes (overhead, mobile, rail and track).Repair mobile equipment (rail, rubber tire and track driven).Arc welding.Track work/back-up roll bearing maintenance and repair using our maintenance management system.REQUIREMENTS:Journeyman Level Millwright or equivalent experienceAbility to read blueprints and schematic drawingsAbility to set up, tear down, and rebuild machinery and equipmentAbility to operate mobile and bridge cranesAbility to operate forkliftAbility to use all sizes of air impact and electric wrenches, all pipe fitting tools and equipment; i.e. sockets and ratchets, hoists, both electric and manual; jackhammer; cutting torches; welding equip.Demonstrates knowledge and ability to use computer programsExcellent written, oral communication and organizational skillsGood problem solving and analytical skillsBasic math skills, some exposure to Geometry, Trigonometry preferredValid drivers license requiredPREFERRED:4 years’ experience in Heavy Industrial Plant MaintenanceSpecific Training on Bearing Maintenance, Inspection and assemblyIvara specific training to set up tracking programs with documents, tasks and proceduresFamiliarity with predictive maintenance tools (vibration analysis, thermographic imaging, ultra sound, laser alignment, etc)Our total compensation package includes amazing benefits!Competitive wages and bonus opportunitiesFamily medical, dental, and prescription coverage at minimal employee costShort and long term disability programsCompetitive retirement plansFlexible Spending and Health Savings AccountsEmployer-provided and Voluntary Life Insurance optionsPaid vacation and recognized statutory holidaysApprenticeship and career advancement within the companyTuition reimbursementWellness programAll applicants must be eligible to work in the USA.While we thank all those who apply, only those being actively considered for employment will be contacted.Equal Opportunity EmployerOrion Steel Group, L.L.C. is an Equal Opportunity employer.
