Job description

At Flint Hills Resources Corpus Christi, you'll put your millwright skills to work maintaining and rebuilding the refinery's most critical rotating equipment. From pumps and steam turbines to compressors and gearboxes, you'll diagnose mechanical issues, perform precision repairs, and help keep equipment operating at its best. Our Maintenance Shop supports some of the refinery's most critical equipment, including gearboxes, pumps, valves, and turbines. We are a team of skilled tradespeople committed to safely maintaining and improving equipment reliability while continuously developing our technical capabilities.

What You Will Do
  • Perform precision maintenance, troubleshooting, inspection, and repair activities on rotating equipment, including pumps, steam turbines, compressors, and gearboxes to support safe and reliable refinery operations.
  • Utilize established repair procedures and inspection checklists to ensure quality, consistency, and accurate documentation of maintenance activities.
  • Diagnose equipment issues and support efforts to improve equipment reliability and performance.
  • Work a 4/10 day‑shift schedule (Monday through Thursday) and participate in an after‑hours/on‑call rotation as needed.
  • Complete internal mechanical progression training requirements and successfully advance through the Mechanical Progression Program from Level 3 to Level 1 certification.
Physical Demands or Unusual Working Conditions:
  • Ability to participate on the after‑hours, on‑call, orrotation schedule
  • Ability to climb a minimum of 75 feet
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 100 lbs
  • Ability to apply a pushing and pulling force in excess of 50 lbs
  • Ability to work in high, precarious places
  • Ability to work in confined spaces
  • Ability to work in various outdoor weather conditions
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
  • Two (2) or more years of experience maintaining, repairing, or rebuilding rotating equipment in an industrial environment; OR completion of an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree in Industrial Maintenance, Millwright Technology, or a related field.
  • Possess a valid U.S. Driver's License.
What Will Put You Ahead
  • Five (5) or more years of experience maintaining rotating equipment in a refinery, petrochemical, manufacturing, or other industrial environment.
  • Experience with pumps, compressors, steam turbines, and gearbox repair.
  • Experience troubleshooting rotating equipment performance issues.
  • Knowledge of vibration analysis, alignment techniques, balancing practices, and hydraulic systems.
  • Experience working in a refinery or petrochemical facility.

This role is subject to the Transportation Workers Identification Credentialing (TWIC) rule and requires the successful candidate to obtain a TWIC identification badge, allowing for un‑escorted access to the facility within a specific time period.
