Job summary

Builders FirstSource in Georgia is hiring a machine operator to run door routing, stair routing, saws, planers, jointers and related equipment for lumber processing. You will set up machines, verify dimensions with rulers or calipers, label cut stock and deliver finished pieces to the team.

A high school diploma or GED and 1 year in millwork or lumber is required, with forklift certification possibly needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with related millwork or lumber experience is required or equivalent.
• At least 6 months experience operating woodworking machines and strong mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to understand products and components used in mill production and maintain safety.

Responsibilities

• Selects and sets machine control settings and grinds to specification.
• Chooses material such as beams, headers, studs, doors, lumber for machining.
• Starts machines and feeds stock against guides to cut as per specs.
• Measures stock with ruler or caliper to verify dimensions.
• Cuts, routes, bores, or shapes wood according to written or digital specs.
• Labels cut stock accurately and delivers to carts for shipment.
• Maintains production counts and delivers paperwork to team lead.
• Prepares cut inventory for future use and keeps work area clean and safe.
