The company provides end-to-end design, engineering, fabrication, and installation services with meticulous attention to detail and custom specifications. MOD Interiors works with metals, stone, woods, veneers, reclaimed materials, glass, acrylics, and fabrics, offering unique finishes and sustainable options. Role Description The Millwork Estimator is a full-time, on-site role based in Fair Haven, MI. This position is responsible for reviewing architectural drawings, specifications, and design intent to prepare accurate material takeoffs and detailed cost estimates for custom millwork projects. Day-to-day tasks include analyzing project scope, consulting with project managers, engineers, and shop personnel, and obtaining vendor and subcontractor pricing for specialized materials and finishes. The Millwork Estimator will prepare and present bid proposals, track estimate assumptions, and support budgeting, scheduling, and value engineering efforts. The role also involves maintaining organized estimate documentation, updating cost databases, and collaborating with clients and internal teams to ensure feasibility, quality, and profitability of each project.
Qualifications

  • Ability to interpret architectural and millwork drawings, read specifications, and perform detailed material takeoffs.
  • Strong estimating and analytical skills, including cost modeling, quantity surveying, and bid preparation for custom woodwork and finishes.
  • Proficiency with estimating software, spreadsheets, and general computer applications used for pricing, documentation, and reporting.
  • Knowledge of millwork materials and fabrication processes, including hardwoods, veneers, laminates, solid surface, metals, glass, and specialty finishes.
  • Experience collaborating with designers, architects, contractors, and shop teams to clarify scope, resolve design questions, and refine pricing.
  • Solid organizational and time-management abilities to handle multiple bids, meet deadlines, and maintain accurate records.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills for preparing clear estimates, proposals, and client correspondence.
  • Prior experience as a millwork estimator, project coordinator, or related role in architectural woodwork, construction, or interior fabrication.
  • Understanding of construction sequencing, installation practices, and jobsite coordination for interior millwork projects.
