Job summary

Curtis Contracting, Inc. (CCI) is seeking an Asphalt milling machine groundperson to join our building, highway, and infrastructure team in Virginia. You will support milling operations, monitor depths, and maintain clear communication with the operator and crew.

The role requires staying alert to hazards, lifting up to 50 lbs, and working in varied weather conditions. Proficiency with Wirtgen grade control tools is essential for efficient performance on site.

Qualifications

• Ability to work safely in construction zones.
• Must be able to stand/walk for long periods.
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs briefly.
• Familiarity with grade control equipment is required.

Responsibilities

• Operate asphalt milling machine under supervision.
• Maintain communication with operator and other crew.
• Assist with directing trucks during loading.
• Perform daily checks, fueling, and maintenance as needed.
• Monitor milling depths and ensure smooth material removal.
• Work in hot and cold environments.

Milling machine groundperson needs the following abilities

• work safely
• responsible to alert operator, or others in work area of unsafe conditions
• maintain constant communication with operator
• responsible for machine cutting depths, to smoothly mill asphalt or concrete
• constant walking with the machine to monitor the milling area and mark out/communicate any
• Assist with directing trucks as they are being loaded
• assist operator with daily checks, fueling, greasing and changing teeth as needed
• must be able to stand/walk for long periods of time
• Must be able to lift and carry 50lbs for short distances
• MUST BE PROFICIENT IN WIRTGEN LEVEL PRO GRADE CONTROL, AND DIFFERENT GRADE CONTROL
  TOOLS SUCH AS SLOPE.
• Must be able to work in hot and cold environments
