Job summary

Curtis Contracting, Inc. (CCI) is seeking an asphalt milling machine groundperson to support the milling operations. The role involves working with operators to mill asphalt or concrete, maintain safe working conditions, and assist with truck loading during the process.

Candidates should be able to stand/walk for long periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and operate/proficiency in grade control tools. The job requires communicating clearly with the operator and adapting to hot and cold environments

Qualifications

• Must be able to stand/walk for long periods.
• Must be able to lift and carry 50 lbs for short distances.
• Proficient in WIRTGEN LEVEL PRO GRADE CONTROL and slope tools.
• Able to work in hot and cold environments.
• Must maintain communication with the operator.

Responsibilities

• Operate milling equipment to mill asphalt or concrete.
• Direct trucks related to load operations.
• Assist with daily checks, fueling, greasing and changing teeth.
• Maintain safe milling area and communicate unsafe conditions.

Job description

Curtis Contracting, Inc. (CCI) focuses on design-build construction and general contracting for building, highway, and infrastructure improvements for federal, state, and local jurisdictions.

Milling machine groundperson needs the following abilities

• work safely
• responsible to alert operator, or others in work area of unsafe conditions
• maintain constant communication with operator
• responsible for machine cutting depths, to smoothly mill asphalt or concrete
• constant walking with the machine to monitor the milling area and mark out/communicate any
• Assist with directing trucks as they are being loaded
• assist operator with daily checks, fueling, greasing and changing teeth as needed
• must be able to stand/walk for long periods of time
• Must be able to lift and carry 50lbs for short distances
• MUST BE PROFICIENT IN WIRTGEN LEVEL PRO GRADE CONTROL, AND DIFFERENT GRADE CONTROL
  TOOLS SUCH AS SLOPE.
• Must be able to work in hot and cold environments
