Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems sector is seeking a Milling Machine Machinist 2 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Palmdale, CA where technology and teamwork come together. The qualified applicant will become part of Northrop Grumman's Manufacturing organization working in a collaborative environment while promoting a positive and proactive teamwork environment.
Sets up and operates plain or universal, horizontal, or vertical milling machines to perform machining operations such as compound angles and contours; boring compound angular holes; doing helical and spiral milling; serrating; and gear, spline, and keyway cutting to exacting tolerances. Selects, mounts, and aligns various specialized machine attachments and standard or improvised tooling; plans sequence of operations, number of cuts required, and method of setup; determines, sets, and adjusts speeds, feeds, and depth of cut; interprets blueprints, sketches, and engineering specifications; uses a variety of machinist hand tools and precision measuring instruments; makes standard shop computations; and measures, marks, and scribes dimensions and reference points to lay out stock for machining. May monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures. Requires completion of a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience.
Basic Qualifications:
High School diploma or equivalent and 2 years additional education and/or related experience.
Experience with robotics and CNC Machining.
Experience with precision measuring instruments - Micrometers, Preset Torque tools, Reference inspection gauges, Dial indicators.
Active in-scope DOD Secret security clearance that has been granted/renewed within the past 5 years.
Ability to work 2nd Shift and any shift.
Preferred Qualifications:
Formal CNC Machining Certificate
Spray coating experience.
Salary Range: $59,300 - $98,900
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills, and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.
