Job description

Milling Foreman

Must possess leadership qualities, knowledge of paving equipment, tools and the different skill‑sets required to supervise a Milling Crew.

Job Duties
  • Supervise and manage a Milling Crew doing site prep for multiple private, municipal, state and federal projects; and plan day‑to‑day operations to ensure timely completion of work.
  • Ensure proper resources are in place for labor, tools, equipment and material; coordinate daily work activities and job‑site organization based on plans.
  • Organize job‑site goals, timelines and budget; order required supplies and materials in a timely manner.
  • Review all contracts, project documentation and plans to ensure field work is built to the most recent specifications, and oversee crew activities for compliance and quality.
  • Conduct daily meetings to brief on production goals, performance feedback, safety, schedule, hazards, and gather worker input.
  • Perform safety audits, coach and train crew members, review equipment condition and maintenance needs.
  • Communicate with contractors and subcontractors to coordinate work schedules, production goals and deadlines.
  • Perform administrative tasks such as production reports, timesheets, equipment logs, inspection reports, change orders and update project files.
  • Promote safe working practices and company safety standards.
  • Handle delays, bad weather or emergencies at construction sites.
  • Inspect and review projects to monitor compliance with building and safety codes and other regulations.
  • Investigate damage, accidents or delays to ensure proper procedures are followed.
  • Perform projects and other duties as assigned.
  • Occasionally assist with general laborer and equipment operations tasks as needed.
Job Responsibilities
  • Report to the Milling Superintendent and direct, coordinate and budget activities related to road surfacing.
  • Coordinate with the Milling Superintendent to develop best methods for production goals, labor, materials, scheduling, safety and quality.
  • Meet with the Milling Superintendent to review project status, set production goals, update job progress and address issues impacting production.
  • Ensure thorough understanding of job objectives to effectively direct crew in tasks and activities required to meet daily goals.
Job Requirements
  • Valid Driver's License (Georgia DOT paving experience a plus).
  • Able to pass a drug test and DOT physical.
  • Excellent interpersonal and supervisory skills and attributes.
  • Thorough knowledge of milling operations and equipment.
  • Coordinate with Estimator/Project Manager to ensure job is built as planned, overseeing quality and production costs.
  • Ability to operate equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Must be able to work nights, weekends and travel when required.
  • Minimum of 3+ years experience with the materials, methods, maintenance and operations of equipment associated with asphalt milling.
  • Physically capable of standing, sitting, kneeling, walking, talking, seeing, hearing, pushing, pulling, climbing, bending and stooping; able to perform repetitive motions with proper posture.
