Job summary

Zekelman Industries seeks a McKay Mill Operator to set up and run the Abbey steel tube mill, producing high-quality tubing while supporting safety and efficiency. You will read micrometers, conduct changeovers, and maintain accurate production records.

Qualifications

• Able to read, interpret, and use micrometers, pi tape, levels, and tape measures.
• Experience operating overhead cranes and ground-operated equipment is preferred.
• Strong verbal and written communication; safety-focused and detail-oriented.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate the McKay Mill to ensure efficient production.
• Oversee tubing quality issues and implement corrective actions as needed.
• Generate and place tags on all manufactured bundles.
• Submit daily production records and timesheets at shift end.
• Ensure micrometer readings are included with production paperwork.
• Conduct safe, timely, and efficient changeovers.
• Verify setups using micrometers, pi tape, level, and tape measures.
• Maintain a clean, organized work area daily.
• Submit detailed work orders for equipment issues as they occur.
• Demonstrate teamwork with other employees and supervisors.
• Cross-train others and remain open to cross-training in other roles.
• Attend safety meetings and enforce safety policies.
