Job summary

Zekelman Industries is hiring a McKay Mill Operator in Missouri to set up and run the Abbey steel tube mill, ensuring efficient production and quality control. You will track production, assist with changeovers, and maintain accurate records in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Ideal candidates will read micrometers and tape measures, work safely, and cooperate with teammates while meeting daily production goals and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, interpret, and use micrometers, pi tape, levels, tape measures, and other hand tools.
• Experience operating overhead cranes and ground-operated equipment.
• Basic computer and mathematical skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate the McKay Mill to ensure efficient production.
• Oversee tubing quality issues and implement corrective actions as needed.
• Generate and place tags on all manufactured bundles.
• Complete daily paperwork, including production records and timesheets, and submit at end of shift.
• Ensure end welder’s micrometer readings are included with production paperwork.
• Conduct safe, timely, and efficient changeovers.
• Verify setups using micrometers, pi tape, level, and tape measures.
• Maintain a clean, organized work area daily.
• Submit detailed work orders for equipment issues.
• Demonstrate teamwork and cooperation with others and supervisors.
• Cross-train others for the position and remain open to cross-training.
• Attend safety meetings and enforce safety policies.

This role is responsible for producing high-quality steel tubing while supporting team efficiency and meeting production goals.
