Job summary

Farm Service Elevator in Minnesota seeks a full-time Mill Operator to produce high-quality poultry feed. You will batch and pellet feed, verify medications, and manage ingredient application while keeping accurate logs per SQF and OSHA guidelines.

The role runs day shift 7 AM–5 PM, with occasional Saturday rotation. Must be able to lift 60 pounds and work in varying weather conditions. Prior agricultural experience helps and boiler license is a plus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Boiler license preferred or ability to acquire promptly.
• 1–2 years in agricultural setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Batch and pellet feed safely and accurately.
• Ensure medications are added correctly to feed.
• Apply downstream ingredients as specified.
• Store finished feed properly.
• Fill bins with correct bagged ingredients.
• Maintain housekeeping and preventive maintenance logs.
• Operate all machinery safely in compliance with FSE and OSHA guidelines.
• Work day shift 7 AM–5 PM; Saturday rotation as needed.

Job description

Farm Service Elevator has a full-time opportunity in the role of Mill Operator. An affiliate of Life-Science Innovations, Farm Service Elevator processes 6.5 million bushels of corn to manufacture over 350,000 tons of poultry feed sold primarily to commercial farms and independent poultry growers throughout Minnesota.

Summary ofResponsibilities:

• Responsible for making safe, quality feed including but not limited to:
  • Ensure feed is batched and pelleted correctly
  • Ensure medication is added to feed correctly
  • Ensure downstream ingredients are applied correctly
  • Ensure finished feed is stored correctly
  • Filling bins with correct bagged ingredients
• Ensure housekeeping and preventative maintenance is completed
• Responsible for completing logs according to SQF code
• Willing to work in adverse weather conditions and heights
• Provides a high level of customer service
• Ensures equipment is in safe operating condition and operates all machinery in compliance with FSE safety and OSHA guidelines
  This is a Day shift position 7 AM - 5 PM Monday – Friday and will be in a Saturday rotation depending on needs.

The Ideal Candidate Summary:

• High school diploma/GED required.
• Special Boiler License preferred. Or ability to acquire within a timely manner.
• 1-2 years of work experience in an agricultural setting preferred.
• Knowledge of preventative maintenance and repairs
• Time management and organization skills
• Experience operating skid loader and fork lift
• Basic math and computer skills
• Ability to lift 60 pounds, occasional bending and lifting required; able to stand on feet for extended periods of time; climb ladders frequently
