Job summary

Imerys is seeking a Mill Operator at our Arkansas facility. This full-time, permanent role operates milling equipment, follows blueprints, and ensures quality and safety standards.

You will monitor controls, adjust feeds and speeds, change tools, perform in-process testing, grease bearings, and support other departments as needed.

A high school diploma or equivalent is required; prior experience with production processes and computerized milling controls is desirable.

Qualifications

• Must have basic understanding of production processes and milling controls.
• Ability to follow safety protocols during operation of milling systems.
• Routine equipment maintenance and housekeeping to ensure smooth operation.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre-shift and workplace examinations.
• Study blueprints, layouts, and specifications for material needs and sequencing.
• Operate milling controls, adjust feeds/speeds, and set tool changes as required.
• Perform in-process product testing and record results.
• Monitor quality tests (moisture, grind) and adjust crude mix as needed.
• Grease and perform basic lubrication when mill is idle; assist with cleaning and maintenance.

Job Description

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

• Perform all pre-shift and workplace examination prior to operation.


• Study blueprint, layout, and other specifications to determine crude clay needs, sequence of operations, and dimensions.


• Move controls to set specifications and start machine. Adjust machine feed and speed, change cutting tools, or adjust machine controls as needed or when automatic programming is faulty/ machines malfunction.


• Perform in-process product testing to ensure quality according to set specifications. Record test results on quality report submitted to lab.


• Observe machine operation and use quality tests (with emphasis on moisture & grind) to make adjustments to controls/ crude mix to ensure conformance within specification tolerances and efficient machine operation.


• Perform basic equipment greasing while mill is not in operation.


• Assist other departments, dump hoppers, cleaning feeder tanks, and maintenance as needed.
