Job Overview
We are currently seeking a reliable and motivated individual to join our Machinist Team. This role will be responsible for sets up equipment across production floor for manufacturing and communicates status of machine to the machinist/operator for the fabrication of precision plastic manifold and plastic components.
Responsibilities
- Under general supervision, sets up and operates vertical machining centers, lathes, 3x5 axix CNC Milling Machines, and other similar special machines
- Performs operations such as forming, drilling, tapping, reaming, chamfering, cutting, etc
- Responsible for product quality through the utilization of various inspection methods
- Ensure productivity is maintained at 100% or above through proper set-ups and operation of machinery to minimize cost to the department, while maintaining schedule integrity
- Ensure quality parts while minimizing scrap and rework through proper use of measuring devices and visual or mechanical inspection parts, correct and effective use of charts and records
- Recognize potential problems with products or processes to ensure that quality standards are maintained
- Provide a positive team atmosphere through effective communications and respect for fellow employees
- Ensure that accuracy, neatness, and legibility of paperwork is maintained, minimizing cost to the department through the elimination of tracking and corrections of mistakes
- Maintain the workstation in a neat and orderly manner, while observing all safety and housekeeping rules
- Maintain simple records, datasheets, work orders, and time cards accurately to avoid time-consuming and costly errors
- Maintain and increase job skills to allow for flexibility within the department
- Adjust and troubleshoot, perform set-ups for new jobs
- Other duties and projects as assigned
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- 2+ years’ experience in CNC Milling Machines
- 1+ years' experience in Blueprint Reading
Core Competencies
- Computer skills required for retrieving job instruction, recording inspection data, and timesheet reporting
- Understand and be certified for the use and care of basic metrology, i.e. micrometers
- Ability to multi-task and time management skills.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
- Able to work in a team environment; good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong knowledge of measuring instruments.
- Strong knowledge of G&M code.
- Strong knowledge of cutting tools and holders.
- The employee may not lift more than 35 pounds and must get assistance by using a material handling device or get assistance from other employees.
Preferences
- Experience in working with and precision machining of plastics
- Experience in working with CMM's or Inspection Equipment
- ERP system usage/knowledge a plus
Travel & Work Arrangements/Requirements
This position will be based at our site in Wallingford, CT no travel.
Pay Range
Starting Pay will range between $25.00 - $29.00 per hour depending on qualifications and experience. This is a full-time, hourly position.
The pay range takes into account a wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skills; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed pay range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled.
