Job summary

Steel Technologies is seeking a Reversing Mill Operator to plan machines to mill steel, align parts for production equipment, set equipment controls, and monitor equipment to meet order specifications.

You will perform full setup, operate AGC systems, verify gauges, document inspection data, and keep production records while adhering to safety rules. We value accuracy and reliability to ensure quality results for customers.

Qualifications

  • Ability to perform complete set-up and operational tasks of rolling to ensure compliance with customer specifications and production requirements
  • Ability to use tape measures and micrometers
  • Ability to comply with safety rules and requirements
  • Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds

Responsibilities

  • Make mill set-up including work roll changes to ensure compliance with production instructions
  • Reconcile coil identity to production and load coil
  • Set-up Automatic Gauge Control (AGC) system
  • Thread coil through mill, cropping non-compliance material
  • Assure material compliance with all order instructions
  • Document all inspection data
  • Monitor coil for shape, finish, gauge (using AGC) running at maximum line speed to assure with order compliance
  • Check gauge and surface when coil is finished
  • Band/secure coil and identify coil in compliance with production
  • Attach histogram to production as required from AGC
  • Remove finished coil from recoiler
  • Organize complete production documentation at order end and record production information, ensure accuracy
  • Remove scrap from machine
  • Clean machine and entire area

As a Reversing Mill Operator at Steel Technologies, you will plan machines to mill steel, align parts and pieces for production equipment, set equipment controls, and monitors equipment.
