Job summary

Five Rivers Cattle Feeding seeks a Mill Labor to help keep the feed mill running smoothly. You will inspect machinery, perform maintenance, and assist with daily operations, including housekeeping and safety compliance.

The role requires reading and following safety instructions, understanding electrical systems and boilers, and the ability to operate/transfer materials; prior experience with heavy equipment is preferred.

Qualifications

• Understanding of electrical systems and boilers.
• Mechanical abilities and experience operating heavy equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules and maintenance manuals.
• Basic math skills for measurements and rate calculations.

Responsibilities

• Identify and prioritize mill maintenance by inspecting machinery for proper functioning (electrical, batching, boilers, liquid tanks).
• Perform preventative maintenance using a computerized work order system and complete tasks.
• Maintain maintenance records by documenting observations, work performed, and parts used.
• Manage parts inventory by communicating needs and organizing parts.
• Schedule downtime or after-hours maintenance work and contract work as needed.
• Assist in other capacities (receiving, flaking, loader operation) when required.
• Participate in daily housekeeping and keep millwork areas clean and organized.
• Comply with OSHA, FDA, and EPA regulations and maintain compliance records.
• Follow all safety rules and policies.

JOB TITLE: Mill Labor

REPORTS TO: Feedmill Manager and Assistant Feedmill Manager

FLSA STATUS: Hourly, Ag-exempt

FUNCTION: Ensures mill operation by inspecting machinery and performing maintenance/repair.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Identifies and prioritizes mill maintenance by visually inspecting machinery for proper functioning (includes: electrical, batching, boilers, and liquid tanks)
• Performs preventative maintenance by utilizing a computerized work order system and carrying out maintenance tasks.
• Maintains maintenance records by documenting observations, work performed, and parts used.
• Maintains parts inventory by communicating parts needed and organizing parts.
• Schedules downtime or after-hours maintenance work and necessary contract work.
• Works in various capacities when another employee is absent or as necessary (may include: receiving, flaking, and loader operation).
• Participates in daily housekeeping, including cleaning and organizing millwork areas.
• Complies with applicable OSHA, FDA, and EPA regulations; maintains appropriate compliance records.
• Complies with applicable safety rules and policies.

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers; ability to compute rate, ration, and percent.
