Job summary

Collins is seeking a General Laborer to learn the green or dry end of the sawmill. You will perform cleanup and operate various equipment, with the opportunity to bid into an open position.

Responsibilities include complying with safety standards, learning multiple mill positions, and assisting with startup and shutdown procedures. On-site attendance is essential as duties evolve with supervision.

Qualifications

• Must be eighteen (18) years of age or older.
• Ability to follow all safety rules when performing required duties.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment criminal history check and a pre-employment drug screening.
• Knowledge and ability to operate hand and power tools preferred.

Responsibilities

• Comply with safety standards at all times and report hazards.
• Act as a floater to learn multiple positions in the mill as needed.
• Learn and perform operator roles and responsibilities as assigned.
• Learn and perform startup and shut down procedures for equipment and department requirements.
• Sweep and shovel debris, wood pieces, and sawdust.
• Lift, flip, pull, and push lumber.
• Operate a wheelbarrow to haul waste materials and use air to clean floor.
• Maintain waste systems by clearing clogs.
• Use circular saw and/or chainsaw to break up materials for removal.
• Perform additional duties as required by supervisor.
• On-site attendance is essential.
