Job summary

Bowhead seeks an experienced Watercraft Operator to support military maritime operations and testing at Camp Pendleton, CA. You will operate RHIBs and other watercraft while ensuring safe, reliable test operations.

Responsibilities include multi-vessel coordination, dive support, and maintenance of marine systems. Must have a Coast Guard license or 10+ years of military small-boat operations, with strong safety and data-recording skills.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 10 years of military experience operating and maintaining small boats (10/11-meter RHIBs or larger) or a current U.S. Coast Guard license with equivalent experience.
• Experience supporting military maritime operations, watercraft testing, sea trials, and test & evaluation activities.
• Experience operating and maintaining watercraft comparable to Military vessels, including 11-meter RHIBs and 64-foot workboats.
• Proficiency in marine navigation and communications systems (radar, GPS, charts, VHF/UHF radios).
• Experience with night-vision/electro-optic systems and signaling equipment.
• Extensive experience coordinating multiple watercraft in close proximity to other vessels and structures.
• Experience supporting military diving, emergency response operations, and live-boat operations.
• Knowledge of maritime safety procedures, risk management, and emergency equipment.
• Ability to operate offshore/an amphibious operations up to 50 nautical miles from shore.
• Experience with vessel readiness, maintenance documentation, and test data recording.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain RHIBs and other watercraft in support of military testing and operations.
• Coordinate multi-vessel operations and ensure safe transfer of personnel.
• Support underwater/dive operations and emergency rescue tasks as required.
• Document vessel logs, maintenance, inspections, and test results accurately.
• Assist in test planning, data collection, and liaison with government representatives.
• Maintain and troubleshoot marine engines, transmissions, electrical systems, and related equipment.
• Adhere to maritime safety procedures and risk management practices.
