Job summary

State of Missouri seeks qualified security personnel to provide armed protection for aircraft and base resources at Rosecrans Memorial Airport, Missouri Air National Guard in Saint Joseph. The role encompasses patrols, access control, and incident response in a military environment.

Requirements include DoD law enforcement training or certified academy, ability to pass medical and background checks, and possession of relevant vehicle licenses.

Qualifications

• Completion of a Department of Defense (DoD) law enforcement training program (i.e. Security Forces, Military Police) and at least 18 years old.
• Or completion of a certified law enforcement training academy; eligible to be commissioned as a peace officer (must be 21 to be commissioned).
• Or 21 years old with one year armed security experience.
• Ability to pass prescribed medical and physical fitness evaluations maintaining specified standards.
• Ability to pass background investigations and maintain military security clearances.
• Maintain a valid Government Motor Vehicle Operator's License and a state Vehicle Operator's License.
• Pass prescribed training programs (annual weapons qualifications) as designated by the Office of the Adjutant General.

Responsibilities

• Maintain duty positions such as flightline protection and access control; patrol as armed response; monitor traffic and parking; conduct vehicle inspections.
• Conduct surveillance of individuals; detain suspects; conduct searches and coordinate with local police when needed.
• Respond to fire and intrusion alarms; assist in fire evacuations.
• Investigate on-site incidents; prepare reports citing violations of regulations and laws; provide court testimony.
• Participate in training and certify in firearms, handcuffing, CPR, first aid, and other procedures; recertify as required.

Job description

A career with the Missouri Department of the National Guard in this specialized armed security and law enforcement position working with the United States Air Force Security Forces within the jurisdiction of the Office of the Adjutant General. Job Location:

Rosecrans Memorial Airport, Missouri Air National Guard, 705 Memorial Drive, Saint Joseph, MO 64503

Provide armed security and protection to aircraft, equipment, persons, and military resources located at the assigned base, including base buildings and grounds.

• Maintain various duty positions, such as providing flightline protection, monitoring access gates, credentialing personnel, patrol of the installation as an armed response force, monitoring vehicle traffic and parking within base jurisdiction; conduct vehicle inspections, rotate posts as directed.
• Conduct surveillance of individuals within jurisdictional limitations; detain persons suspected of law violations; conduct searches of persons and property, contact local police when necessary.
• Responds to fire and intrusion alarms on military property; and assist building occupants during fire evacuation procedures.
• Investigate on-site incidents and/or accidents; prepare clear and concise reports citing violations of military regulations, agency security procedures, and federal, state, and/or local laws; and provides court testimony.
• Participate in all training, to include position certifications, pistol, rifle, shotgun, less lethal weapons, Combatives, Use of Force, and impromptu in-service training sessions; periodically obtains re-certification in CPR, basic first aid, firearms and handcuffing, etc.

Minimum Qualifications

• Completion of a Department of Defense (DoD) law enforcement training program (i.e. Security Forces, Military Police) (Must be at least 18 years of age at the time of appointment.
• Or Completion of a training program from a certified law enforcement training academy; and, eligible to be commissioned as a peace officer (must be 21 years of age to be commissioned).
• Or 21 years of age with one-year armed security experience.
• Ability to pass prescribed medical and physical fitness evaluations maintaining specified standards.
• Ability to pass initial and periodic background investigations and maintain specified military security clearance(s).
• Ability to maintain a valid Government Motor Vehicle Operator's License and a state Vehicle Operator's License.
• Ability to pass prescribed training programs (includes annual weapons qualifications) as designated by the Office of the Adjutant General.

Preferred Qualifications

• Military experience. Knowledge of military operations.
• Ability to quickly assess information and take corrective action in emergency situations.
• Introductory knowledge of security procedures, policies, rules, and regulations, knowledge of applicable military regulations, and directives.
• Introductory knowledge of law enforcement techniques and methods used to handle various persons and groups.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and written. Maintain records and prepare clear and concise reports.
