Job summary

Magellan Federal in Honolulu, HI seeks a Personal Financial Counselor to deliver financial counseling to military service members and families on installations. You will educate, counsel, and refer resources, conducting workshops and one‑on‑one sessions across the DoD lifecycle.

You will work with installation POCs, provide virtual counseling as needed, and adhere to DoD and OCI requirements. A bachelor’s degree and 3+ years of experience are expected, with U.S.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3+ years of financial counseling experience.
• Bachelor's degree required; an associate degree with 4 years' experience or a high school diploma with 6 years' experience may be considered.
• Must be a U.S. citizen and fluent in English; bilingual in English/Spanish may be required by contract.
• Must be able to obtain a favorably adjudicated Tier 2 investigation and pass the OCI disclosures.
• Certifications: AFC, CFP, or ChFC are required or preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides personal financial counseling and management services directly to service members and their families.
• Assists service members in establishing a spending plan for extended absences.
• Develops and makes available informational financial materials to service members and families.
• Coordinates and provides a variety of Personal Financial Management classes/workshops.
• Responds to requests for age-appropriate classes or seminars.
• Uses virtual counseling or other electronic modes of communication as needed.
• Manages duty to warn situations according to DoD protocol.
• Communicates with leadership and participates in supervision and meetings.
• Participates in training and contract activities as assigned.
• All other duties as assigned.
