Job description

**Job Description Summary**

The Military Materials Development Engineer will provide materials expertise and technical programmatic execution for key technologies under development in conjunction with our military customers. The candidate will collaborate with personnel from various engineering disciplines, management, and technicians in an office and laboratory environment.

**Roles and Responsibilities**

  1. Execute technical coating development programs to reduce technical risks, leveraging domain expertise.
  2. Collaborate with teams across materials, design, and manufacturing to advance coating technologies using the TRL/MRL process while meeting milestones.
  3. Apply principles of chemistry, physics, and materials science to develop coating systems with desired performance for metallic and composite materials.
  4. Provide technical documentation for peer and customer reviews.
  5. Present data at technical meetings and design reviews.
  6. Recommend approaches to resolve materials and manufacturing issues, influencing high-risk items and improving designs.
  7. Document lessons learned and best practices.
  8. Communicate developments with leadership and assist in technical roadmap development.
  9. Partner with measurement teams to develop new testing methods for coatings and structures.

**Minimum Qualifications**

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or related field from an accredited college or university.
  • At least 1 year of experience in a materials science engineering role.
  • Ability to obtain DoD Security Secret Clearance.

**Desired Characteristics**

  • Experience with materials and process development, including material selection and testing.
  • Existing DoD Security Top Secret or Secret Clearance.
  • Experience leading technical development programs, managing budgets, and communicating milestones.
  • Advanced degree in Materials Science or related field.
  • Strong communication skills.
