Job summary

Magellan Health is seeking a Personal Financial Counselor to provide financial counseling and education at military installations in Fort Lauderdale, FL. You will deliver one-on-one counseling, teach classes, and coordinate a broad range of Personal Financial Management activities for service members and their families.

Required are 3+ years of financial counseling experience, U.S. citizenship, fluent English, and relevant certifications (AFC, CFP, or ChFC).

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Associates with 4 years experience may be considered in lieu of bachelor’s.
• High school diploma with 6 years experience may be considered in lieu of bachelor’s.
• 3+ years of financial counseling experience.
• U.S. citizen and fluent English required.
• If contract requires, bilingual in English and Spanish.
• Able to obtain a favorably adjudicated Tier 2 investigation.
• Able to pass OCI disclosures.
• Must have AFC, CFP, or ChFC certification.

Responsibilities

• Provides personal financial counseling and management services directly to service members and their families.
• Assists service members in establishing a spending plan for extended absences.
• Develops and makes available informational financial materials to service members and families.
• Coordinates, publicizes and provides a wide variety of Personal Financial Management classes/workshops.
• Responds to requests for age-appropriate classes or seminars.
• Uses virtual counseling or other electronic modes of communication as needed.
• Manages duty to warn situations per DoD protocol.
• Communicates with leadership and participates in supervision and quality improvement activities.
• Performs additional duties as assigned.
