MILITARY DoD SKILLBRIDGE Field Engineer (South Region)

As a Skillbridge Intern at GE Healthcare, you will partner with customers to impact patients' lives by representing our life-changing products, driving customer satisfaction through excellent service, and helping healthcare professionals deliver world-class care using innovative medical technologies.

The Military DoD SkillBridge program offers Service members valuable civilian work experience through industry training, apprenticeships, or internships during the last 180 days of service. It connects Service members with industry partners for real-world job experiences under DoD Instruction 1322.29. Participants can be granted up to 180 days of permissive duty after receiving written approval from their unit commander, focusing solely on training full-time with approved industry partners. GE Healthcare, as a SkillBridge partner, provides in-demand field training and work experience, with opportunities to evaluate the Service member’s suitability for the work. Participants continue to receive military pay and benefits; they are not compensated by GE Healthcare.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Under supervision, evaluate basic customer biomedical equipment issues, perform repairs, planned maintenance, safety and environmental inspections, and maintain effective customer relations. Follow GE policies, hospital protocols, and complete necessary documentation.
  • Maintain daily communication with customers to ensure resolution and proper follow-up, supporting business goals.
  • Assist experienced technicians with repairs and resolution. Work as part of a local team to deliver efficient service within the assigned area.
  • Document all repair actions, submit reports, manage parts inventory, and coordinate vendor service delivery in compliance with GE policies.
  • Care for spares, tools, and test equipment, ensuring calibration. Maintain technical knowledge of current standards, codes, and procedures regarding safe and effective use of medical equipment.
  • Meet applicable health, safety, and environmental requirements.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Active Military Personnel
  • Ability to develop and maintain good customer relationships
  • Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license
  • Physical ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 35 lbs., and perform various physical tasks including bending, stooping, climbing, crouching, kneeling, sitting, standing, reaching, and having good dexterity and vision.
  • Must not relocate more than 30 miles without manager approval
  • Complete all planned training within deadlines and report customer quality or compliance concerns immediately
  • Comply with GEHC Quality Manual, policies, laws, and regulations

Desired Characteristics:

  • Experience interpreting schematics, troubleshooting, and performing maintenance on biomedical, diagnostic imaging, or electronic equipment following standards and codes.
  • Good customer relationship skills
  • Strong analytical and communication skills, able to explain technical issues clearly
  • Experience working with internal teams and external customers in a solution-based service environment
