The Military DoD SkillBridge program offers Service members valuable civilian work experience through industry training, apprenticeships, or internships during the last 180 days of service. It connects Service members with industry partners in real-world job experiences under DoD Instruction 1322.29. Separating Service members can be granted up to 180 days of permissive duty for full-time training with approved industry partners, with proper authorization. GE Healthcare, as a SkillBridge partner, provides real-world training and work experience in in-demand fields, with opportunities to evaluate the Service member’s suitability for the work. Participants continue to receive military compensation and benefits and are not eligible for additional compensation from GE Healthcare.

Job Responsibilities

  • Under supervision, evaluate basic customer biomedical equipment issues, perform repairs, planned maintenance, safety and environmental inspections, and maintain effective customer relations following GE policies and hospital protocols.
  • Maintain daily communication with customers to ensure resolution and proper follow-up, supporting business goals.
  • Assist experienced technicians on repairs and resolutions, work as part of a local team to deliver efficient service.
  • Document repair actions, submit reports, maintain parts inventory, and manage vendor service processes per GE policies.
  • Care for spares, tools, and test equipment, ensuring calibration. Enhance technical knowledge of standards, codes, and procedures for safe medical equipment use.
  • Meet Health and Human Services and Environment, Health, and Safety requirements.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Active Military Personnel
  • Ability to develop and maintain good customer relationships
  • Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license
  • Physical ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 35 lbs., and perform various physical activities; good hand and finger dexterity; appropriate vision abilities
  • Must not relocate more than 30 miles without approval
  • Complete all planned training and report quality or compliance concerns immediately
  • Comply with GEHC Quality Manual, policies, laws, and regulations

Desired Characteristics

  • Experience interpreting schematic diagrams and troubleshooting biomedical or diagnostic equipment
  • Ability to maintain good customer relations
  • Strong analytical and communication skills to explain technical issues clearly
  • Experience working with internal teams and external customers in a solution-based service process
