Job summary

Outreach Development Corp. is seeking a Milieu/Floor Counselor in Ridgewood, NY for a full-time role. You will deliver long-term supervision, clinical services to adults with substance use and co-occurring disorders, and collaborate with an interdisciplinary team.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Initial and ongoing screening of residents and property per unit procedures.
• Facilitate group counseling sessions professionally and document progress.
• Supervise clients in self-medication under supervision.
• Report incidents and emergencies using SAC log and 24-hour on-call system.
• Provide crisis interventions and follow-up documentation.
• Supervise daily house schedule and overall client supervision.
• Utilize agency vehicles to transport clients to appointments.

The Milieu/ Floor Counselor is responsible for the delivery and implementation of long term supervision, support and clinical services to a population of chemically dependent adults with co-occurring and mental health problems. The Milieu/ Floor Counselor serves as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team.

Job Scope:

• Initial and ongoing screening of resident and resident property in accordance with unit procedure.


• Facilitate group counseling formats on time and in a professional, ethical and caring manner and documents client’s progress through the use of group notes.


• Supervise clients in self-medication (under supervision).


• Communicate all pertinent information, incidents and emergencies using the appropriate system including the SAC communication log, incident reports and 24 hour on-call supervisor.


• Provide crisis interventions and follow up including documentation of the incident, accident and/or elopement reports.


• Overall supervision and management of client population in the facilitation of the daily house schedule.


• Other duties as assigned.


• Use agency vehicles (15-passenger van, or car) to provide transportation to required appointments

Qualifications

• CASAC-T; CASAC, or higher preferred.


• 1 year of experience working with clients with substance abuse disorders.


• 1 year of experienceworking in an OASAS funded facility a plus


• Commitment to providing quality services and outcome driven performance measures.


• Excellent organizational and crisis management skills, ability to prioritize competing demands, familiarity with treatment planning


• Act as liaison to community-based service providers


• Strong communication skills, ability to navigate multiple service providers for each client


• Action-oriented, adaptable, and innovative approach to program planning.


• Ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people
