Job summary

PrairieCare is seeking a Milieu Counselor to manage patient engagement and crisis intervention. The role involves supporting direct care staff and facilitating groups. A Bachelor's degree in a related field and two years of experience with mental health or substance abuse in adolescents are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in human services, counseling, psychology or related clinical field required.
• Enrolled in a master’s program in counseling, social work, or family therapy preferred.
• Licensed as a Therapeutic Recreational Therapist required, if not enrolled in a master’s program.
• Minimum two (2) years of experience with adolescents or young adults in a mental health or substance abuse setting required.

Responsibilities

• Engage with patients who are struggling or at risk of harm.
• Support the direct care team in addressing patient issues within the community.
• De-escalate struggling patients with an understanding of crisis management techniques to reduce incidents.
• Facilitate groups and activities as scheduled and needed.
