Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive diagnostic evaluations for children, adolescents, and adults using DSM-5 criteria.
  • Provide short-term and ongoing individual and family therapy tailored to patient needs.
  • Lead efficient, patient-centered admission processes and triage during high-volume or urgent situations.
  • Provide mobile crisis response coverage as assigned.
  • Apply age-appropriate interventions, set therapeutic boundaries, and ensure safety.
  • Maintain accurate electronic medical records in accordance with standards.
  • Complete state-mandated screenings within KDADS, DCF, and state guidelines.
  • Collaborate with Utilization Review and treatment teams to secure authorizations.
  • Adhere to mandated reporting guidelines and internal policies.
  • Support continuity of care through daily shift reports and scheduling coordination.
  • Participate in clinical supervision, peer consultations, and performance initiatives.
  • Maintain Kansas licensure and continuing education (Relias Learning).
  • Foster a collaborative environment and assist during peak crisis needs.

Prairie View is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Clinician to join our team in McPherson, Kansas. In this role, you will provide vital mental health services across the lifespan—delivering accurate diagnostic evaluations, individual and family therapy, and crisis intervention. Key Responsibilities
Clinical Care & Crisis Response
  • Perform comprehensive diagnostic evaluations for children, adolescents, and adults using DSM-5 criteria.
  • Provide short-term and ongoing individual and family therapy tailored to patient needs.
  • Lead efficient, patient-centered admission processes and prioritize care through triage during high-volume or urgent situations.
  • Provide mobile crisis response coverage as assigned.
  • Apply age-appropriate interventions, set therapeutic boundaries, and maintain a focus on patient, staff, and community safety.
Administrative & Compliance
  • Maintain accurate, thorough, and timely electronic medical records in accordance with organizational and regulatory standards (completing admission documentation prior to the end of shift).
  • Complete state-mandated screenings (Mental Health Reforms and PASRR) within established KDADS, DCF, and state guidelines.
  • Collaborate closely with Utilization Review staff and interdisciplinary treatment teams to secure service authorizations.
  • Adhere to all mandated reporting guidelines and internal compliance policies.
  • Support seamless continuity of care through daily shift reports and effective scheduling coordination with administrative support staff.
Team Alignment & Professional Growth
  • Participate actively in clinical supervision, peer consultations, and organizational Performance Improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain active Kansas licensure and fulfill continuing education requirements (utilizing internal training tools like Relias Learning).
  • Foster a collaborative, team-first environment by assisting colleagues during peak crisis needs or coverage requests.
Qualifications
  • Minimum Education: Master’s degree, with clinical emphasis required; QMHP designation required.
  • Minimum Experience: Three years of post-graduate experience in mental health field preferred
  • Must have strong clinical and diagnostic skills
  • Must have effective, evidence informed crisis intervention skills
  • Must have ability to observe patient behavior for assessment purposes
  • Must have effective communication skills (listening, verbal, written) to interact with patients, staff, & multi-disciplinary treatment team members
  • Must have ability to communicate effectively with diverse community agencies
  • Must have solid understanding of customer service best practices
  • Must have solid understanding of current managed care practices and procedures
  • Must have excellent problem-solving/conflict resolution skills
  • Must have active participation with developing efficient sustainable departmental budget
  • Must be able to schedule flexibility to meet the needs of the program/agency
  • Must be proficient at basic keyboarding/word-processing skills
  • Must be able to pass Kansas Bureau of Investigation Screen and the Central Registry Screen for both adults and children
