Job summary

WellSpan Health's York Hospital is seeking a dedicated Behavioral Health Technician to provide a safe, therapeutic environment on the inpatient psychiatric unit. This full-time, day-shift role supports treatment teams and helps maintain order and patient safety.

Responsibilities include crisis response, 1:1 observation, de-escalation, room and safety checks, and collaboration with RNs. Candidates should have a high school diploma and BLS certification, with training in milieu management within

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Less than 1 year relevant experience; required.
• Milieu management/de-escalation training within 60 days; required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification upon hire; required.

Responsibilities

• Responds to emergency situations to maintain order and safety.
• Manages and participates in behavioral crises including 1:1 observation and restraints under RN supervision.
• Monitors conduct and reports problems to the RN in charge.
• Supports unit safety checks and maintains logs of items.
• Assists in leadership on the unit and provides coaching to team members.
