Job summary

The Houston Astros, LLC are seeking a Minor League Dietitian Apprentice to join the Player Care & Performance (PC&P) at one of our minor league affiliates. This role includes performing performance nutrition assessments, counseling, medical nutrition therapy, and education for energy balance and athletic performance.

The position travels with the affiliate team and supports nutrition services across the organization.

Qualifications

• Texas or North Carolina state licensure (LD) required or required upon hire.
• 1+ year of collegiate and/or professional sports experience.
• First Aid/CPR certification.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the MiLB Nutrition Coordinator and PC&P team to conduct nutrition assessments and create plans to support energy balance and performance goals.
• Provide medical nutrition therapy for individuals with health care needs following PC&P protocols.
• Evaluate nutrition-related lab values and advise supplementation per department guidelines.
• Maintain documentation of assessments and services rendered.
• Conduct body composition assessments and interpret data to support athletic performance and wellness.
• Use sweat testing data to guide hydration and recovery nutrition recommendations.
• Create and deliver nutrition education, including Spring Training presentations and weekly talks.
• Educate athletes on supplements, their uses, dosing, timing, and MLB policy compliance.
