Job summary

Modineer Company in Niles, MI is seeking a full-time Direct Labor Welder to perform MIG and TIG welding and related setup in the factory environment. The role involves reading work instructions, loading/unloading parts, changing weld tips, and ensuring welds meet print specifications.

Schedule: Weekend Shift – Thursday through Sunday (4:00am-4:00pm). Overtime as needed.

Summary of duties and responsibilities:

Employees perform all welding and related tasks involved in the production processes at Modineer Company. This position may only involve welding up to 75% of the time. Job duties also include set-up and operation of spot welders, grinders, and other machines. Various other related duties may be assigned. Employees must f ollow standard work instructions and practice safe work habits to ensure production is as efficient and safe as possible.

Primary duties and responsibilities:

• Read and understand work instructions
• Load and unload parts
• Change weld tips, nozzles, and fixtures
• Wear appropriate PPE
• Perform product quality checks in accordance with work instructions
• Use small hand-held tools to make minor adjustments to parts
• Read and understand measurement devices
• Assemble loose parts into a jig fixture
• Weld per print specifications
• Remove weld spatter
• Handle/lift/push/pull up to fifty (50) lbs. (wire spools / parts) on a repetitive basis

Education, prior work experience and specialized skills and knowledge :

• Must be able to use small hand tools, grinders, sanders, etc.
• Must be able to accurately complete all required Modineer production system documentation such as production reports, inspection reports, etc.
• Must be able to pass written and practical weld evaluations
• Must pass an eye exam (with or without corrective lenses)

Physical environment/working conditions:

The position is in the factory and could involve sitting, standing, walking and lifting for long periods of time throughout the day.

Other (e.g., customer contact or access to confidential information):

Must be able to work as part of a team.
