Job summary

Aerotek in Ames, IA is seeking a Welder to perform MIG welding and metal fabrication in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. You will read blueprints, prepare surfaces, and operate welding equipment to produce precise welds while adhering to safety protocols.

Ideal candidates have MIG welding experience, ability to read drawings, and familiarity with tape measures; AWS D1.1 certification is preferred. Permanent onsite position with competitive pay and benefits.

Qualifications

• MIG welding experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings accurately.
• Ability to read and use a tape measure and other measuring instruments with precision.
• Ability to weld T joints and perform consistent, structurally sound welds.
• Experience with fabrication workflows and metal part assembly.

Responsibilities

• Perform welding and fabrication tasks using MIG welding techniques to produce accurate, high-quality welds.
• Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work instructions to understand project specifications and requirements.
• Prepare and clean metal surfaces prior to welding to ensure proper weld penetration and quality.
• Operate welding machines, hand tools, and measuring instruments to achieve precise dimensions and tolerances.
