Job summary

WEBER SPECIALTIES COMPANY is seeking an experienced welder to join our production team. The role involves reading blueprints, preparing electrodes, and welding with arc equipment to meet exact specifications. You will position and clamp workpieces, inspect welds, and document outputs.

The position may require overtime, including weekends, with attendance as a key requirement. Qualified candidates have at least five years of welding experience or an equivalent combination of metallurgical

Qualifications

• Reads blueprint, job specification or operator instructions for product specifications and quantity required.
• Obtains specified electrode and inserts electrode into portable holder or threads consumable electrode wire through portable welding gun.
• Starts power supply to produce electric current.
• Strikes arc to join edges of workpiece and form specified depth of fusion and bead.
• Welds in multiple positions and inspects bead size and quality.
• Completes SPC charts and uses micrometers, calipers, and gauges for part inspection.

Responsibilities

• Welds metal components using electric arc-welding equipment.
• Maintains arc length and speed to achieve specified fusion depth.
• Preheats workpieces and clamps them for welding.
• Inspects welds and performs post-weld cleaning and finishing.
• Keeps accurate shop floor paperwork and communicates needs to supervisor.
