Job summary

Mancan is hiring for a permanent welding position in Akron on first shift with a later move to second shift. Pay starts at $19/hr, full time with benefits via Mancan. Galvanized sheet metal welding on 20ga–14ga, with unionized company environment.

Candidate should have MIG welding experience, ability to read blueprints, and comfort with measuring tools. PPE, welding helmet, and steel-toe boots required; interview includes a weld test.

Qualifications

• MIG welding experience required, sheet metal preferred.
• Experience welding galvanized steel strongly preferred.
• Ability to work with thin gauge materials without warping or burn-through.
• Ability to read measuring tools (tape measure, calipers, squares).
• Strong attention to detail and quality control.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
• Welding test will be required during interview.
• Own Welding Helmet & Steel toe boots required.

Responsibilities

• Perform MIG welding on galvanized sheet metal (20ga–14ga).
• Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and fabrication drawings.
• Set up and adjust welding machines according to material thickness and specifications.
• Ensure proper weld penetration while minimizing burn-through on lighter gauge materials.
• Grind, clean, and finish welds as required.
• Inspect completed welds for quality, accuracy, and structural integrity (non-structural applications).
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Follow all safety procedures, including proper ventilation and PPE when welding galvanized materials.
• Work collaboratively with fabrication and production teams to meet deadlines.
