Job summary

Cornerstone Building Brands in Elizabethton, TN is seeking a MIG welder for our production team. The role focuses on welding structural steel components, with emphasis on accuracy, safety, and adherence to blueprints.

The candidate should be capable of operating welding equipment, reading drawings, and maintaining quality while meeting production targets. The position offers a full-time schedule with a typical day shift, and overtime opportunities.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
• A minimum of one year of welding experience in a production environment or valid welding certification.
• Ability to read blueprints and drawings.
• Ability to obtain and maintain CWB and AWS welding certification per Cornerstone procedures.
• Experience with forklift and/or overhead crane operation a plus.
• Comfort with power hand tools.
• Willingness to train and operate forklift and overhead crane.
• Ability to meet deadlines and work collaboratively in a team.
• General mathematical knowledge and ability to use basic measuring instruments.

Responsibilities

• Engages in the full MIG weld processes on structural steel components.
• Coordinate welder settings, gun speed/travel, and gas flow to bead quality.
• Read tape measures and blueprints to shop standards.
• Decide on adjustments to tooling and technique to prevent defects.
• Train others on proper welding procedures per manufacturing guidelines.
• Operate overhead crane and other lifting equipment as needed.
• Maintain bead shape, size, and penetrations to required specifications.
• Keep correct numerical and alphabetical sequences in work.
• Support continuous improvement in the work area.
• Communicate effectively in a production environment.
