The opportunity has arisen to join an industry leader in UK’s Building Services sector. Alternative Heat design, develop and deliver a wide range of offsite-prefabricated, innovative, and sustainable building service solutions throughout the UK & Europe.
We specialise in the design, supply, and installation of a wide range of prefabricated energy solutions, typically built in NI and shipped throughout the UK & Europe. We also offer turnkey design, build, and operate solutions for commercial energy centres and large-scale district heating solutions and have experience with successfully procuring and delivering many similar packages to a wide range of public bodies throughout UK & Europe.
Due to continued growth, we are looking to integrate a MIG Welder to support our growing teams.
Job Summary
We are seeking self-motivated Welders to weld a range of pipe configurations that will support our team of skilled Fabricators and assembly teams. The successful candidates will be required to be on site each day within the fabrication/welding facility. The Welding activities within the arrangements utilize various methods of welding, the ability to produce welds in TIG, MMA or MAG to a high standard will be required. This opportunity has the potential for successful candidates to develop and retain further skills within numerous welding, fabrication, and preparation disciplines, working from our in-house welding and inspection procedures for fabrication and welding.

Hours | Mon–Thurs 7am-4.30pm and Fri 7am – 1.30pm
Salary | Competitive depending on experience
Responsible to | Fabrication Manager
Key Responsibilities
- To operate MIG/TIG or MMA welding equipment
- To read/interpret drawings.
- Use precision measurement instruments
- Use of metal cutting and grinding equipment
- Responsible for highlighting any faults or damage to the machine and its tooling
- Clean tools, equipment, and work areas
- Maintain a safe working environment
- Any other duties deemed necessary by Management.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Essential Criteria:
- Previous experience in Fabrication and welding with general and pipe welding
- Previous experience in welding preparation and fit up
- Previous experience in MMA, MAG or TIG welding processes to high standards
- Experience in reading, interpreting, and working to Welding procedures
- Competent using measurement instruments, Fillet gauges etc
- Excellent attention to detail and quality.
- Manage and discuss workload to meet project deadlines.
- The ability to use your own initiative on projects with minimal supervision.
- Always maintain a good working relationship with colleagues, whilst maintaining a high level of productivity
- To undertake training in line with company standards
Desired Criteria:
- Heavy or structural Fabrication experience
- Welding qualifications in MMA, MAG or TIG
- Abrasive wheel training
