Job summary

American Seating Company in Grand Rapids, MI is seeking a skilled MIG/TIG Welder to join our manufacturing team. The role involves welding steel and stainless components according to blueprints, and setting up welding cells for production runs.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years of welding experience, a high school diploma or GED, and a welding certification, and will pass an in-person TIG/MIG weld test.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• MIG and TIG production welding using blueprints and drawings.
• Set up welding machines based on the job at hand.
• Read and interpret blueprints/drawings for welding requirements.
• Set up welding cell for production run.
• Ensure parts are checked for quality and signed off.
• Perform inventory transactions as required.
• Maintain clean and organized work areas and care for equipment.
• Follow duties assigned by Team Lead or Supervisor.
• Work with team to maximize productivity and efficiency.
• Other duties as assigned.

TITLE: MIG/TIG Welder
REPORTS TO: Production Supervisor
EXEMPTION STATUS: Union UAW - Hourly
POSITIONS SUMMARY: MIG and TIG production welding using blueprints and drawings.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

• Sets up welding machines based on the job at hand.
• Reads and interprets blueprints and or drawings to determine the specific welding requirements.
• MIG and TIG welds steel and stainless components based on the specifics of the blueprints and or drawings.
• Sets up welding cell for production run.
• Ensure parts are properly checked for quality and signed off.
• Perform all necessary inventory transactions as required.
• Keeps work areas clean and organized and takes proper care of all equipment.
• Follows all assigned duties assigned by either Team Lead or Supervisor.
• Provides a great level of attention to detail and focuses on the given task.
• Works with team members to maximize productivity and efficiency.
• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• 2+ years welding experience
• Welding Certification from accredited training facility
• Pass an in-person welding test for TIG and MIG welding

Working Conditions

• Standing for entire shift.
• Able to lift up to 40 pounds.
• Able to twist, bend, stoop as needed.
• Weld jacket and gloves will be provided by American Seating.
• Welding helmet will be provided upon request and must be signed for.
• Safety shoes are required.
• Safety glasses are required.
• Hearing protection required.
