Job summary

TransTech Group is seeking a Construction Estimator in Indianapolis, IN to read plans, prepare estimates, and manage bid packages. You will work with project management and customers through RFQ/RFI, perform quantity takeoffs, and coordinate with vendors for pricing.

The role requires 3–5+ years of estimator experience, proficiency in CAD (3D modeling) and MS Office tools, and a strong safety mindset. Eligible for a comprehensive benefits package and full-time employment.

Qualifications

• Prefer 3-5+ years’ experience as Construction Estimator.
• Ability to read and understand general construction plans and drawings.
• Experience with MS Windows, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Experience with PDF review / editing software (Acrobat).
• Ability to use CAD software with 3D modeling preferred.

Responsibilities

• Live by safety culture and pursue zero accidents.
• Coordinate with project management and customers through RFQ/RFI processes.
• Prepare bid packages with printing, filing, organizing, and storing.
• Analyze blueprints and specs to estimate time, cost, and labor.
• Prepare material takeoffs and obtain vendor pricing.

• Ensure accuracy of estimating spreadsheets (labor, materials, costs).
• Manage delivery and installation on projects.
• Generate project schedules, preferably with MS Projects.
• Set and manage customer expectations on capabilities, lead times, quotes.
• Evaluate profitability and risks with senior management.

Duties/Responsibilities

• Live by our safety culture always, pursing our goal of zero accidents.


• Works with and reports to the project management team and communicates directly with customers throughout the RFQ and RFI process.


• Receives and preps bid packages including printing, filing, organizing, and storing.


• Analyze blueprints, specifications, and other documents to prepare time, cost, and labor estimates for customers. Prepare clear, complete, and accurate plan of action for the specific project. Including manpower allocation, equipment needed, schedule a value and all submittals.


• Perform accurate material quantity takeoffs and send out to vendors for material pricing.


• Review and understand all bid documents, assess project risks, and prepare bid packages.


• Ensure accuracy of all components of estimating spreadsheets including labor hours, labor rates, internal cost allocations, assumption, material, transportation, and all buyout services.


• Manage delivery (and installation, if required) on projects.


• Ability to generate project scheduled preferably MS projects.


• Manage customer expectations through communication of capabilities, capacities, lead times, and quotes.


• Strategically evaluate with senior management and project managers profit margin potential, project risks, project fit, and competitive environment.


• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Ability to use CAD software with 3D modeling preferred. Ability to take structural concepts and create drawings for shop use required.


• Demonstrated initiative, conflict resolution, confidentiality, and professionalism.
