Job summary

Vitreous Retina Macula Consultants of New York (VRMNY) in Midtown Manhattan seeks a Medical Scribe to support retina specialists. You will document visits in real time, record findings and plans, and assist with in-office procedures while maintaining HIPAA compliance.

Experience as a medical scribe is required; familiarity with EMRs and medical terminology, fast typing, strong organization, and professional patient communication are essential.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients, explain the visit, and guide them to exam rooms.
• Follow HIPAA and documentation standards.

Medical Scribe – Retina (Midtown Manhattan)

Want to work side by side with some of New York's leading retina specialists? Vitreous Retina Macula Consultants of New York (VRMNY) is hiring a Medical Scribe for our Midtown office. You'll help our physicians keep charts accurate and help the clinic run smoothly, and you'll learn retina medicine up close along the way.

About VRMNY

We're the largest retina practice in the New York metro area, with offices in Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Westchester. Our physicians are internationally recognized for diagnosing and treating retinal disease. We're a collaborative, people-first team that invests in the people who work here.

What you'll do

• Work alongside the physician in the exam room, documenting each visit in real time in Nextech MDI.
• Record exam findings, test results, the doctor's impression and plan, prescriptions, and orders, as the physician directs
• Document in-office procedures such as intravitreal injections, lasers, etc.
• Keep every chart accurate, complete, and consistent
• Keep clinic flow moving: greet patients, explain what to expect during their visit, and guide them to exam rooms, prepare the exam room for physician
• Follow HIPAA and practice documentation standards
• Other duties as assigned

What you bring

• Medical scribe experience (required)
• Comfort with electronic medical records and medical terminology
• Fast, accurate typing
• Strong organization, and the ability to stay calm and keep up in a busy clinic
• Friendly, professional communication with patients and physicians

Nice to have

• Ophthalmology or retina experience (eye anatomy, retina conditions, eye medications). We'll train the right person.
• Experience with Nextech MDI Intellechart PRO
• Associate degree or equivalent work experience

Schedule: Monday–Friday
Physical: You'll be on your feet and moving between exam rooms most of the day.
Pay: $23–$27/hour, depending on experience
