Job summary

NYC Bar Association in Midtown Manhattan is seeking a hands-on Handyperson/Maintenance Person for a 60,000 square foot landmark building. You will perform electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and repair duties, and coordinate with building staff to support events and daily operations.

The role requires 5+ years of experience, familiarity with office environments, and the ability to lift 75 lbs. Expect a 40-hour workweek with occasional overtime, in-person work, and compliance with safety standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of experience.
• Must be skilled in basic electrical and plumbing work.
• Must be skilled in carpentry (woodworking, cabinetry, wood repair, etc...).
• At least 2 years of prior experience in an office or corporate environment.
• Hands-on experience with hand and power tools.
• Familiar with industry safety standards (Lockout-Tagout, MSDS), or training within 3 months.
• Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs.
• Flexible to work additional hours and adjusted shift times as needed.
• Authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Install, repair drywall walls and partitions to finish quality.
• Repair and refinish wood office furniture.
• Perform basic electrical repairs.
• Perform locksmith and repair duties.
• Make general plumbing repairs and replace fixtures.
• Repair building maintenance machines and equipment.
• Maintain kept clean and organized jobsite and workshop.
• Coordinate with building porters for meeting/event setups when possible.
• Respond to facility requests via email in a timely manner.
• Meet with management weekly to review workflow priorities.
