Job summary

Figure seeks a Middleware Software Intern for Summer 2026 to help build out the core platform infrastructure that keeps our robot running. You’ll implement and test C++ software on embedded Linux, write Python scripts to diagnose issues, and collaborate with the testing infrastructure to ensure stability.

Ideal candidates are in their final year or recent graduates planning to finish by end of 2026, with strong C++/Python skills, Linux expertise, and familiarity with timing-sensitive

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of Linux and embedded Linux concepts.
• Proficient in C++ and Python with demonstrated project experience.
• Familiarity with timing-sensitive environments.
• Exposure to TypeScript is a plus.
• Knowledge of shared memory and lock-free systems.
• Experience with hardware/software projects outside coursework.

• We’re looking for a Middleware Software Intern for Summer 2026 to help build out the core platform infrastructure that keeps our robot running


• How do you enable apps on a robot to exchange 320,000,000 messages per hour, 24 hours a day, without fail


• How do you efficiently capture and store all of that data


• And how do you give developers the tools to visualize and interact with it


• These are the types of challenges you’ll be working on


• This internship is designed for students in their final year of an undergraduate or master’s program, as well as recent graduates who are on track to complete their degree by the end of 2026 (or the following year)


• Implement and test C++ software running on embedded Linux systems


• Write Python scripts to investigate and resolve issues


• Work with our testing infrastructure to ensure fixes remain stable

• Available for a minimum of 10 weeks (1–2 terms preferred)


• Strong understanding of Linux


• Solid knowledge of computer architecture and networking protocols


• Graduate student or recent graduate in Computer Science or related field


• Proficient in C++ and Python


• Demonstrated experience on hardware/software projects outside of coursework


• Familiarity with timing-sensitive environments


• Exposure to TypeScript


• Knowledge of shared memory and lock-free systems


• Experience with the Bazel build system
