Job summary

Oliver Bernard is seeking a Middleware Engineer with strong Kafka experience for a hedge fund environment. You will own 24/7 production systems and work in a small, agile team, becoming a technical expert in North America.

You will gain exposure to distributed systems and work across Kafka, Keycloak and Vault to advance secrets management, load balancing, and scalable infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Excellent background as a middleware engineer, ideally in a 24/7 trading / finance environment.
• SRE / production support knowledge.
• Experience working with distributed systems.
• Understanding of networking, latency, and failover strategy.
• Knowledge of tools such as Keycloak and Vault.
• Experience with capacity management, performance tuning, and system scaling.
• Familiarity with Linux and scripting (Bash, Python, etc.).
• Any knowledge of DevOps tools such as Kubernetes, Cloud and automation would be ideal.

Responsibilities

• Own and drive middleware engineering initiatives, ensuring reliability in a fast-paced trading environment.
• Work with Kafka, Keycloak and Vault to implement secrets management and scalable architectures.
• Collaborate in a small, agile team and act as a technical expert for North America.
