A technology company is seeking a Middleware Engineering Manager to lead a high-performing team focused on enterprise-grade messaging and middleware technologies. This role involves overseeing the installation, configuration, and maintenance of middleware across environments, ensuring performance, reliability, and security. The ideal candidate will have over 10 years of experience in Middleware Engineering, including leadership roles, along with strong expertise in technologies like Kafka and MQ. This position offers a hybrid work model with a competitive compensation package.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in Middleware Engineering, including at least 2 years in people management.
  • Preferred certifications: AWS Solutions Architect, CKAD, or CKA.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining third-party middleware technologies.
  • Oversee configuration and availability of production, development, and testing environments.
  • Direct the creation of advanced automation using tools such as Jenkins and Ansible.

Middleware Engineering Manager | Enterprise Technology

An exciting opportunity has opened for an experienced Middleware Engineering Manager to lead a high‑performing team responsible for delivering, supporting, and evolving enterprise‑grade messaging and middleware technologies across complex environments.

In this leadership role, you will guide a team that designs, implements, and maintains critical middleware platforms supporting large‑scale applications. You’ll ensure reliability, performance, and security across production and non‑production environments while driving best‑in‑class engineering practices.

We are looking for someone with a strong technical understanding, and recent hands‑on experience with Middleware technologies such as Kafka and IBM MQ.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a team responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining third‑party middleware technologies across multiple operating systems.
  • Provide architectural guidance and partner with development teams on application design and integration.
  • Oversee configuration and availability of production, development, and testing environments.
  • Direct the creation of advanced automation using tools such as Jenkins and Ansible.
  • Optimize performance of middleware components and services.
  • Design and maintain disaster recovery strategies aligned with business continuity requirements.
  • Ensure timely resolution of complex configuration and support issues.
  • Develop and maintain procedural and troubleshooting documentation.
  • Lead high‑impact, technically complex projects.
  • Ensure middleware platforms adhere to security and compliance standards.
  • Advise on industry best practices and evaluate new technologies.
  • Manage day‑to‑day operations and professional development of the middleware engineering team.

Technical Expertise
  • Strong Expertise in Middleware Technologies (Kafka & MQ).
  • Scripting and coding experience.
  • CI/CD tooling.
  • Cloud‑native applications and microservices architectures.
  • Encryption technologies (SSL/TLS, PKI).
  • Software security controls.
Experience & Certifications
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in Middleware Engineering, including at least 2 years in people management.
  • Preferred certifications: AWS Solutions Architect, CKAD, or CKA.
Compensation
  • $160-170k base compensation
  • 15% annual bonus
  • 6% match on 401k
  • $100 a month health spending benefits

This is a hybrid position, 3 days a week in the office.
