Job summary

Mineral County Schools seeks a dedicated Middle School Coach to mentor student athletes and develop athletic programs in alignment with WVSSAC rules. The role emphasizes building teamwork, sportsmanship, and personal growth within a structured school setting.

The coach will instruct, supervise practices, manage equipment, and collaborate with the principal and athletic director to ensure safety, compliance, and educational value during the season defined by WVSSAC and approved by the principal.

Qualifications

• Professional Teaching Certificate or Eligibility for Coaching Authorization
• Criminal background check conducted pursuant to WV Code §18-5-15c and/or §18A-3-10, as appropriate

Responsibilities

• Provide instruction to student athletes to prepare them to achieve personal and team goals.
• Exhibits professional and interpersonal relations; cooperates with athletic director and principal.
• Develops rapport with coaching staff and student body; maintains discipline and safety.
• Plans and designs efficient practice sessions; supervises and disciplines teams appropriately.
• Manages budget and follows purchasing procedures; ensures equipment handling and inventory.
