Job summary

Quincy Public Schools is seeking a part-time Technology/Engineering Teacher for grades 6-8 in Quincy, MA. The role reports to the Coordinator of Science and focuses on PLTW-aligned lessons and project-based learning.

Responsibilities include planning, instruction, assessment, and collaboration with science and math teachers. The position is pro-rated for 0.5 FTE with a focus on inclusive education and ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in STEM or related field.
• MA DESE license in STEM related fields at appropriate grade-level.
• Computer literate.
• Demonstrated proficiency in the 2016 MA Science and Technology/Engineering Frameworks.
• Familiar with MA MCAS science and tech items.
• Experience teaching at middle school level preferred.
• Interdisciplinary connections between science, engineering and math.
• Commitment to an inclusive and supportive classroom environment.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and provide learning experiences within assigned area.
• Establish an instructional atmosphere conducive to learning.
• Complete PLTW training and incorporate PLTW lessons.
• Identify and explain steps of the engineering design process.
• Demonstrate interdisciplinary instruction and varied teaching techniques.
• Evaluate students and keep records; prepare progress reports.
• Participate in professional development and staff meetings.
• Provide accommodations and services for all students.
• Adhere to the Educator Evaluation System.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Coordinator of Science and building Principal.
