Job Description

TITLE: Teacher – Middle School

JOB DESCRIPTION: To create a flexible middle school grade program and a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth; establish effective rapport with pupils; motivate pupils to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation in accordance with each pupil’s ability; establish good relationships with parents and with other staff members.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor Degree
  • Arizona Elementary and/or Secondary Certification
  • Appropriately certified in core subject area
  • Provisional SEI or full Bilingual or ESL endorsement

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Plan, implement, and evaluate instructional programs for area(s) of assignment and student population.
  • Effectively collaborate with colleagues through a Professional Learning Community model.
  • Demonstrate teaching skills and knowledge in assigned academic area, utilizing course of study adopted by the Governing Board and other appropriate learning activities.
  • Instruct pupils in subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district.
  • Develop lesson plans and instructional materials and provide individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil.
  • Evaluate pupil’s academic and social growth, keep appropriate records, and prepare progress reports.
  • Take initiative in productively addressing overall programmatic refinements for the purpose of maximizing each student’s potential through positive interpersonal skills.
  • Work cooperatively with administration and staff at the building level to best meet the educational needs of the student population.
  • To create a positive learning environment to facilitate the academic, personal, social, and intellectual development of each student.
  • To present appropriate curriculum that is in alignment with federal, state and district goal and objectives using a variety of instructional methods and strategies to further enhance and support learning.
  • To maintain high expectations for self and all students and encourages them to become lifelong learners.
  • Communicate with parents through conferences and other means to discuss pupil’s progress and interpret the school program. Identify pupil needs and cooperate with other professional staff members in assessing and helping pupils solve health, attitude and learning problems. Create an effective environment for learning through functional and attractive displays, bulletin boards and interest centers.
  • Maintain professional competence through in-service professional development activities provided by the district and/or self-selected professional growth activities.
  • Select and requisition instructional aids and materials; maintain required inventory records.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
