Started in 2003, La Salle Academy (LSA) is a small, independent, Catholic grade school serving children in grades 3rd through 8th from low-income families across Philadelphia. Run in the tradition of the Christian Brothers and the Sisters of St. Joseph, La Salle is a San Miguel model school committed to students’ academic and spiritual success in a supportive, faith-based environment.

We are seeking a full-time Eighth Grade Teacher for the 2025-2026 school year to support our mission. LSA provides a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance and a 403b retirement plan. We are an equal opportunity employer.
The primary responsibility of the LSA Eighth Grade Teacher is to create a welcoming classroom environment where students develop positive relationships, feel accepted, yet are challenged to take risks in learning within an age-appropriate, supportive, Christian setting. The teacher models the five goals of being respectful, responsible, motivated, consistent, and peaceful, preparing students for high school challenges.
Bachelor’s Degree (preferably in Education)
Subject Taught: Religion, English Language Arts, Social Studies, or Science
Prior teaching or working with children experience preferred
Understanding and sensitivity to children’s needs
Strong classroom management skills
Organized with well-prepared lesson plans
Accurate and timely academic grading and attendance records
Flexible team player
Good communication skills with students and adults
Ability to remain calm in stressful situations
Willingness to perform additional duties (e.g., lunch duty, line duty)
Completion of all required background checks, including Child Abuse, PA State Police, and FBI clearances
Archdiocese of Philadelphia Safe Environment training (Part I and II)
