Job summary

Robert Stuart Middle School is seeking a dedicated Paraprofessional - Student Support to join our team on a part-time basis. The role supports students, teachers, and staff to create a positive learning environment and assist students with diverse needs.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent, a willingness to work with middle schoolers, and strong communication and teamwork skills. Training includes working with IEPs and 504 plans and using educational technology.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; Requires two years of college, an AA degree, or successfully completed the ParaPro Assessment.
• Experience working with middle school-aged children with diverse learning needs.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with students and staff.
• Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to help students succeed academically and socially.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and follow directions from teachers and administrators.
• Basic computer skills and familiarity with educational technology.
• Availability to work part-time hours, including flexibility to accommodate school schedules and events.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers in implementing instructional plans and adapting materials for individual student needs.
• Provide one-on-one or small group support to students, reinforcing lessons and promoting engagement.
• Monitor student progress and behavior, providing feedback to teachers and parents as needed.
• Help create a safe and inclusive classroom environment by implementing positive behavior management strategies.
• Support students with special needs in accordance with IEPs and 504 plans.
• Facilitate communication between students, teachers, and parents to ensure a collaborative approach to student support.
• Assist with classroom organization, preparation of materials, and other administrative tasks as required.
• Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge related to student support.
