Benton Harbor Area Schools is seeking a STEM Teacher for the Middle School to lead the STEM program and provide students with opportunities to participate in extracurricular activities at Fair Plain Middle School.

Qualifications

• Valid Michigan teaching certificate with appropriate secondary endorsement (6-12) or eligible for full-year permit/BHAS pathway.
• At least two years of successful teaching experience.
• Familiarity with virtual/online learning.
• Ability to incorporate technology into instruction and leadership ability.
• Strong communication skills.
• Experience in an urban school district preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide for participation in extracurricular events.
• Arrange transportation, lodging, and meals for out-of-town events.
• Oversee booster club and club activities.
• Use evaluative findings to determine program effectiveness and renewals.
• Develop and implement plans for STEM programs with written evidence of preparation.
• Prepare lessons reflecting accommodations for individual student differences.
• Plan instructional strategies and materials based on diverse learning styles.
• Conduct ongoing assessments of student achievement.
• Create a learning environment appropriate for students’ physical, social, and emotional development.
• Supervise students on out-of-town trips and ensure safety.
• Update records accurately as required by laws and policies.
• Communicate progress and needs to students, colleagues, and parents.
• Observe and evaluate student performance and development.
• Maintain regular and reliable attendance as a duty.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.
