Job summary

Benton Harbor Area Schools is seeking a Seventh Grade Science Teacher for Fair Plain Middle School. The teacher will deliver science instruction, develop engaging lesson plans, and provide opportunities for individualized and small-group learning within a structured classroom environment.

The role requires a valid Michigan teaching certificate with appropriate endorsement (DX/DI) for grades 6-12, plus strong communication skills and experience in urban school settings.

Qualifications

• Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with appropriate endorsement (DX or DI, grades 6-12)
• At least two (2) years of successful teaching experience
• Familiarity with virtual/online learning
• Ability to incorporate technology into the classroom
• Strong academic preparation and leadership ability
• Strong communication skills
• Proven ability to meet the challenges of an urban school district
• Master's degree in Education (preferred)
• Five (5) years of successful teaching experience (preferred)

Responsibilities

• Teach science courses and develop lessons following the district's approved curriculum
• Provide individualized and small-group instruction to meet student needs
• Plan demonstrations, lectures, and lab activities for effective learning
• Establish and maintain classroom behavior for a productive environment
• Evaluate student growth in knowledge and skills in science
• Communicate progress with parents and guidance counselors
• Administer or monitor standardized tests as per district program
• Involve in curriculum development and faculty committees
