Job summary

Colorado Psychiatric is seeking a Middle School Sports Coach to lead age-appropriate practices, teach fundamentals, and foster teamwork in a safe, supportive environment. The role emphasizes positive youth development, communication with parents, and adherence to policies.

You will supervise practices and games, promote fair play, manage equipment, and collaborate with staff to ensure a positive participant experience across varying skill levels.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years old.
• Knowledge of youth sports, middle school athletics, basic rules and positive youth development.
• Experience coaching, playing, volunteering, or working with middle school youth preferred.
• Ability to lead practices, explain skills, and adjust instruction for varying levels.
• Ability to supervise youth, maintain boundaries, and foster inclusion.
• Ability to respond to injuries, weather, conflicts, and behavior issues.
• Strong communication, organization, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to interpret and follow department policies, safety expectations, and codes of conduct.
• Maintain basic records of attendance and communications.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and lead age-appropriate practices and team instruction.
• Teach sport fundamentals, rules, strategies, and sportsmanship.
• Supervise practices and games for safety and inclusion.
• Promote fair play, participation, and positive youth development.
• Communicate with participants, parents, officials, and staff about schedules and updates.
• Monitor behavior; address injuries, conflicts, and program needs.
• Follow league rules, safety procedures, and conduct expectations.
• Assist with equipment management, attendance, and setup/cleanup.
• Inspect facilities and report unsafe conditions promptly.
• Model professionalism, reliability, and enthusiasm.
• Support program evaluation with feedback for improvement.
